I thought it would be fun to do some critiques. Anyone interested in submitting anything? If so, send me some images at spencer@ground-glass.com. I’ll keep the source anonymous, unless otherwise is requested. I don’t guarantee I’ll like the shot, but I’ll do everything I can to make it informative and constructive.… Read more...
Learning from the worst
There was no hope for that poor shrimp. He didn’t know it. But I did. There he sat, wading in his tank of water in the Hong Kong wet market, just waiting to be scooped up by the fish monger. He was dinner, no doubt about it. But his efforts were heroic. I felt sorry for him, as he climbed over the edge of the acrylic tank. Reaching. Arching. Extending. Finally, freedom was his. He crawled over the edge, and fell to…another tank below. Filled with even more shrimp. But, hey, at least those were higher priced shrimp. Not just because it’s good – it is – but because she’s real, and that means something. Now, more than ever. I liked 21 – some of it a whole lot, but overall, not quite as much as I wanted to. But, you’ve gotta love her. Yeah, it’s the … Read more...
The Irresistible Offer and the USP
So there I was – gasp – cleaning. Sorting through some books, really, and I stumble across The Irresistible Offer by Mark Joyner. Apparently, I bought it some three or four years back, and never got around to reading it. I’ve been thumbing through it this past week with mixed feelings. I’m about half way through, so I reserve judgment, but as it stands, it’s been a little more light weight than I had hoped. It harkens back to the sales books of the 90’s, where it was all about the how and less the why. With that said, it makes some valuable points.
The basic premise is that businesses need to make an irresistible offer – a deep touchstone … Read more...
