A picture like this is such a great reminder for the power of the basics. It’s not whimsical and clever. It’s not showy and stylized. It’s pure timing and composition. It’s nailing things in the middle of an action, freezing time to let us see what is just barely beyond the grasp of our vision, but squarely focused on what our minds want to retrieve. The wind and the hair, the arm lifted just right, and the other flower girl in the background make it all come together.
