What it is
The I Will Make You Suffer Workshop (IWMYSW) is an intense 3.5 day workshop from July 23-26 based in New York City. Think bootcamp. Think cram session in college. Or drugs, partying, and shooting without the drugs and partying.
IWMYSW was created to take your creativity to the next level by refining your personal vision and helping you integrate it into your photography business. We’ll talk shop, and we’ll have one on one time, but above all, this is a workshop about the love of photography, and you’ll get a chance to shoot throughout NYC – one of the best backdrops in the world.
What you get
IWMYSW is a period to intensely explore and develop your vision in an environment that will push and encourage you without pulling punches. It will be challenging, but you’ll have the opportunity to dig into your most personal visions in a way day-to-day life rarely affords. This is perfect for those who are stuck and want a kick in the pants, who want to break down barriers, or who want to refine their vision.
The Cost
The bargain-basement, one-time rate of $225. It won’t happen again!
Details
The IWMYSW begins in the late afternoon on Monday, July 23 with a casual get-together in our Brooklyn-based office, aka mission control for the ensuing three days. Assignments will be determined at that point. It will wrap up towards the end of the day on July 26. Expect to push yourself, and expect to work both day and night. Three days goes fast, so we’ll be working around the clock to milk as much as possible out of the experience. I am looking for 6-10 participants, no more.
OK, sign me up!
Woah! Not so fast! I want to bring together a group that challenges and complements one another. Who comes is as important as what you do. If you want to participate, send me three things by June 5 to info@ground-glass.com:
1. Submit 25 images that represent who you are or provide a specific photo essay or feature you want me to look at. The pictures can be personal or they can be wedding images. But they should show me what you’re after and what you care about.
2. Submit a paragraph or two to tell me who you are. Doesn’t need to be an essay. But I want to know a little about who you are, where you’re at, and where you want to go.
3. Send a link to your website.
That’s it! Selection criteria is going to be based on a number of factors, but above all, it will focus on creating the best group dynamic possible. Final announcements for admission will be made June 12. Admission will be closed as soon as I find a good set of people to work with, so submit your information sooner rather than later.

Spencer! I didn’t read the dates close enough. I’ll be away on another workshop. That said, I am going to still apply. Perhaps you’ll consider me for your next workshop? One can only hope. So thoroughly enjoy your writing. This blog should be required reading for all creative people.

Completely understandable, but such a bummer! I’d certainly do that. Thanks!
