When Apple sucked

I’ve been using Macs forever – since the very first one, back in 1984, and I’ve long been a fan. Now, I’ve done my fair share of bouncing back and forth in my life, so I know what PCs are about, but at heart, it was always Macs that I loved. But it wasn’t always that way. Set the time machine way back, and you’ll find me as a young boy thinking “What the hell type of name is that?” After all, that was the age of IBM – International Business Machines. Companies with serious names. Real names. And here was…Apple? Apple?!?

But if there’s one truth I’ve learned about business, it is this. You define what good is. Good … Read more...

Picture of the day: Sean Flanigan

This is really what modern life is. A blow by blow play captured via phone or point and shoot. And that just goes to show that words aren’t a whole lot different than pictures. Trend-dominated, while trying to keep the masses at bay – we, whether that we is us as photographers, analysts, or anything else – are practitioners ever in pursuit of higher ground. We have to be better than the next guy, because the next guy … Read more...

Out of stock – get people excited or get out

There I was, waiting to buy a runner for the hallway. Now, you have to know that buying carpets just isn’t that exciting to me. But we needed one, so we were buying one. I wasn’t sure if we would keep it. I figured my wife and I would take a look and decide then. We added it to the cart, went to checkout, and then we saw the message you just never want to see. This item is not in stock. In fact, it wouldn’t be for 3 months. 3 months!

My pulse pounded, my head ran off to wherever it runs off to in this type of situation, and I start to think that I simply must have … Read more...
